The Kerk
This project is a community-focused mixed use, missing middle development that complements the rich history of the local area. The building seeks to embody modern European design while incorporating design elements from nearby buildings to create a pedestrian-friendly atmosphere. It invites a rich community culture by using elements such as landscaped plantings, garden areas, children’s play areas, and bike lockups.
We worked closely with the developer to ensure that all design elements were refined and harmonized into a holistic plan that would be a desirable place to live. The unique character of this existing mature neighborhood was a core influence on the design, relating the building to its surroundings and helping it to be well received by the community.
